About us
For over a decade, Secret City has been building immersive experiences in some of Canada's most iconic places, from escape rooms inside Casa Loma to mystery dinners and after-dark adventures at The Village at Black Creek. We make stories people step inside of. As our lineup grows, we're looking for a Production & Cast Director to make sure every one of those stories runs flawlessly, night after night.
The role
As Production & Cast Director, you'll lead the Stage Managers who run our games across every Secret City venue. You'll make sure each show has the right people, props, and set pieces in place, build and train the cast who bring our worlds to life, and act as the bridge between the various sites and our studio team when games are updated or refreshed. You're the person who knows how every show runs, what each one needs, and how to make it better.
What you'll do
Manage all Stage Managers across Secret City games, setting schedules, priorities, and show standards for every venue.
Coach and support Stage Managers day to day, stepping in on the floor when a show needs an extra pair of hands.
Support Stage Managers in overseeing inventory for all games, including props, costumes, puzzle components, tech, and consumables.
Set up systems for tracking stock, maintenance, and repairs so every game opens ready to play and continues operating efficiently throughout its run.
Lead hiring for new cast, from writing postings and running auditions to making offers.
Design and deliver training and onboarding so new cast learn our games, show standards, and guest experience.
Collaborate closely with the studio team on game updates and refreshes, sharing feedback from the floor and planning rollouts with minimal disruption.
Keep operations safe, consistent, and guest-ready, and resolve issues quickly when they come up.
Conduct regular show and site audits across all venues, inside and outside the GTA, checking show quality, set and prop condition, safety, and adherence to show standards.
Run periodic inventory audits and reconcile stock against tracking systems.
Prepare weekly and monthly reports on show performance, guest feedback, incidents, staffing, and inventory, with recommendations for leadership.
Cross-train cast and Stage Managers across multiple games and roles so every show can be covered when schedules change.
Conduct performance check-ins and reviews for Stage Managers, setting goals and addressing gaps early.
Build and maintain show bibles, SOPs, and opening and closing checklists for every game.
Manage cast scheduling and labour costs within budget, and approve timesheets.
Own health and safety on site, including incident reporting, emergency procedures, and making sure staff are trained.
Handle guest escalations and act on trends in reviews and feedback.
Support the launch of new games and venues, including setup, staffing, and training.
What we're looking for
4+ years in stage management, live event operations, or immersive entertainment, including time leading a team.
Proven experience hiring, training, and developing staff or cast.
Strong organizational skills and a system-minded approach to inventory and logistics.
Calm, decisive problem-solving when a show is running and something goes sideways.
Clear, warm communication with cast, managers, studio collaborators, and guests.
Comfort working across creative and operational teams to turn ideas into running shows.
Availability for regular evenings and weekends as live shows require.
Nice to have
Background in theatre production, escape rooms, or immersive experiences.
Experience managing operations across multiple venues.
Familiarity with show tech such as lighting, sound, and game control systems.
What we offer
A fun, creative team that has spent years making memorable nights out
A leadership role shaping how every Secret City game runs
2–3 weeks paid vacation plus paid statutory holidays
Staff perks, such as complimentary tickets and discounts to our other experiences
