About us
For over a decade, Secret City has been building immersive experiences in some of Canada's most iconic places, from escape rooms inside Casa Loma to mystery dinners and after-dark adventures at The Village at Black Creek. We make stories people step inside of. Now we're bringing live social deduction with a theatrical flair to our lineup, and we're looking for Storytellers to run it.
The role
As a Game Master, you'll run live theatrical games of Blood on the Clocktower, the social deduction game of bluffing, whispered deals, and village-wide accusations. You'll set up and control a “digital grimoire,” guide players through each night and day through storytelling and special effects, make the judgment calls that keep the game balanced, and deliver a finale that has the whole table talking on the way out. Some guests will know the game inside out. Many will be playing for the first time. You'll make both groups feel like they belong.
What you'll do
Run live games from start to finish for groups of roughly 5 to 16 players, including setup, rules explanation, night phases, nominations, executions, and the final reveal.
Teach the game clearly and quickly to new players without slowing down experienced ones.
Facilitate and control the game through a custom digital app.
Use Storyteller discretion thoughtfully, giving information and handling abilities in ways that keep the game tense, fair, and fun for both teams.
Track the game state accurately in the grimoire, including reminder tokens, deaths, and ability interactions.
Set the tone with narration and atmosphere, treating each session as a piece of theatre.
Set up and tear down lighting and sound equipment, props, player costumes, and set pieces.
Keep the room comfortable and respectful, stepping in when table dynamics need a gentle reset.
What we're looking for
Strong working knowledge of Blood on the Clocktower, including Trouble Brewing, Sects & Violets, and Bad Moon Rising. Experience running games as Storyteller is a big plus.
Confidence holding the attention of a room full of strangers.
Clear, patient communication, especially when explaining complex rules.
Quick thinking under pressure. Players will surprise you, and you'll need to adapt on the fly.
Warmth and hospitality. Every guest should leave feeling like they had a great night, win or lose.
Availability on evenings and weekends.
Nice to have
Background in theatre, improv, hosting, teaching, or tabletop game facilitation.
Experience working in immersive entertainment, escape rooms, or live events.
What we offer
A fun, creative team that has spent years making memorable nights out
Training and onboarding on our show standards and guest experience
Staff perks, such as complimentary tickets and discounts to our other experiences
